Well I bought a V15-III with its original stylus in virtually pristine condition...and I was impressed with its performance.
I subsequently purchased a Jico SAS replacement stylus because of what the SAS did for my Garrott P77....and the improvement was notable and worthwhile...😍
In comparison to the original Shure stylus......the SAS produced an extended and more transparent frequency response which left the original sounding a little 'confined' and lacking in tonal colour...❓
But no....I didn't find the 'highs' exaggerated or screeching at all...👍😎

Or did your original have a different stylus?

Here's the original stylus....
If that's the one you had then perhaps the change to the SAS Jico version would indicate an uptick in sound quality. I am using one of two NOS Shure V15IIIHE and have wondered if it would be worth my while getting a Jico.
If I wonder for long enough, it'll be academic anyway as I'll need a replacement soon enough - just trying to stave off the disappointment (and leave room for pleasant surprise)!

Ah yes: ye olde wobbly stylus-grip (not to mention ye Flopsy Fit, internally!).
Try a few layers of sticky paper/pvc tape...
...phew..lucky I've sufficient NOS VN78E's - so at least don't need any Ersatz Tinklies!!
If you want to hear the V15/III as it should be....try the SAS..😘
Having just discovered/read a 2013 Hoffman thread I'd maybe be even less likely to 'trade-in' a NOS Shure 97-era4 stylii, or two, for a JICO SAS.
Three things in its favour being: boron cantilever that won't likely 'just snap'/greater signal integrity/superior diamond...but clearly requiring very non-standard capacitance/resistance loading to 'disguise' a serious ~17kHz cantilever/HF resonance - as the previous link also indicated.
