symphony No. 2. Utah Symphony, Abravanel conducting. On Vanguard.
I've found the classical Vanguards to be very good pressings with very good SQ. And Abravanel/Utah seems to "grok" Mahler.
Td124 reproduces with gusto!
What's your Tuesday spins?....

Follow Ups:
Vanguard classical, very rare on this side of the Atlantic (Netherlands). I have a few Vanguard pop and folk records, Joan Baez, John Hammond.
Just got in this vintage Philips AG2230 TT. It was the first high fidelity stereo TT of Philips in the early 1960s. Hybrid idler/belt drive. I ordered a new belt, round instead of flat.
A quick test revealed that the original cartridge and styus still sound amazingly clear after almost 50 years. It is the best of both worlds, it has the slam, dynamics and speed of the idler but with more finesse and less rumble.
"The torture never stops"Greetings Freek.
I'm guessing that arm will work well with low compliance MC carts. Hopefully the headshell coupler is interchangeable with SME and Ortofon. If so multitudes of options abound:-)
Perhaps a real sleeper. Not much info about this model about the web. Maybe not many made it out of NL?

I bought the Bernstein boxed cd Mahler set. Seems fine to me.
Edits: 10/20/14
Fine Young Canibals "Drives Me Crazy 12" EP (yes, played the whole thing- all 5 mixes of the same song)
Martha and the Muffins "Danseparc". I missed hearing the title track from that (as well as Children Need to be Saved). A very well recorded album by a little unknown producer named Danny Lanois...
Gardens and Villa "Televisor". New post-punk stuff with leanings towards the Joy Division era with hints of Depeche Mode (sounds, not style).
Check 'em out...

Good choice.

Might clean and spin a few of this evening's finds. Stopped by the local junk shop and found these, $15 for the lot.
The Gould is the one I'm most excited to play. Romeo and Juliet is still sealed and the Bach is actually an upgrade from a set I found a few years ago. This set looks unplayed.
The John Williams and Julian Bream record has been on my list for a while, so...the others will be fun, I'm sure.
The wild card of the bunch. Nice cleavage cover. ;) Looks to be some Italian disco or some such. Who knows? Maybe it will change my life!
A Great LP
