I've been developing a strong urge to try a japanese linear tracker .. Mitsubishi LT-30 or Yamaha PX-3 ... Either one a whole lot less than $3k, the PX-3 seems plentiful enough (way cheaper than a GT-2000) .. both fully automated, that's what I like!! LOL

Before I bought the GT 2000 I had the PX-3 and the PX-2. I knew nothing about the sound quality of the GT. I had seen photos of it, but it was like the Unicorn. Something to read about and never see.
When I finally decided to buy a GT 2000 instead of putting a $3000 ZYX cartridge on the PX-2, it was because of a post by an AudioKarma member who lives in Hong Kong and had heard the GT 2000 despite not owning one. He said that it was a great turntable. I knew that a reasonable cartridge on a great turntable was a better proposition than a great cartridge on a reasonable turntable, so I bought a GT 2000 from Japan.
That was in late 2008. I still regard the GT 2000 as one of the best sounding components that I have ever heard in 35+ years of loving hi-fi sound. I will never regret the decision to buy one and I still to this day thank that AK member whose posting tipped me over to buying the turntable rather than the cartridge. As a music lover and hi-fi lover, acquiring a superb Source component is the foundation of a great system. A great system cannot be a great system without a great Source component. I got lucky with the GT 2000. I had no idea how good it was at the time of purchase and I actually love it more now than I initially did upon hearing it despite it being 'Love at first bar'. 8 ^)
AudioKarma now has about 16 or so members who have GT 2000s. They all had very good turntables before the GT. They all love their GTs. It's a hard turntable not to love. 8 ^)
One more thing; The AudioKarma memeber who inspired me to buy the GT 2000 bought one soon after and loves his GT also.
Nice ... does it look like the one shown here on the Knob?

That is a GT 2000 sitting in the accessory suspension cradle. Mine looks better than that. It looks better because it is not merely on the screen and I get to use it. That is what makes it better. 8 ^)
So tell me about the PX-2, work good, sound good? It's huge also.

I purchased this PX-2 back in 82 brand new and it has been flawless in operation. I have a VPI Classic 3 as well and I have not had a chance to compare side by side with the same cartridge as they are in two different systems.
If you can find one in good condition for a reasonable price it is a very solid piece.
Yeah. It is a really nice really well made turntable.I never had a moment's trouble with it. I sold it(along with my Yamaha C2x preamp and Yamaha B-2 v-fet amp) to a friend. The PX-2 worked well for a couple of years for him but he has had problems with it since and although he could get it fixed and working again, he has not done that yet. I keep telling him to get moving on that, because it is better than the turntable that he is using. The Mitsubishi LT-30 is another great turntable by all reports. Another being the Sony PSX-800. Other than the Pioneer PL-L1 the Sony is better than the other Japanese linear trackers. The PL-L1 is super rare and wouldn't come cheaply either. I can't remember seeing one for sale in 14 years.
Edit: I may have seen one for sale in all that time.
