I've got an RB300 that I want to mount on a VPI acrylic armboard. I understand spindle-to-mount distance (I'm going with 219.5mm) and how to make the arc but I'm not clear at what point along that arc to drill the mounting hole.
Is there an optimal angle? 45 degrees maybe?
Thanks for your input.

The optimal angle is where the tonearm looks best in its armrest. It just has to be the right distance from the center of the platter -- in your case 219.5-mm.
Good luck,

Looking good but functional.
Be careful to have it far enough away from the spindle AND aligned properly with the back and front of the deck so that cabling, cartridges, cueing levers and whatever else have clearance to operate.
