...to my turntable. A neighbor called me up Thursday evening to tell me he had found the LPs his pen pal had sent to him before and during the raising of the iron curtain some 45 years ago. Unearthed from his basement, some have water damage while others were in plastic sleeves. All vinyl is in NM condition and all very psychedelic. The first LP pictured is from Hungary.
Inmates, this is what I live for. I'm having the time of my life going through these LPs. It's a blessing to have great and interesting neighbors.
Still spinnin'...(in Czech!)
;^)
Follow Ups:
great pile of records there.
RIP John Bonham.
I checked a few of the bands out on Youtube, it looks like you are in for a great listening session. Thank your neighbor for all of us for turning us on to music we otherwise would never hear.

It's so cool to see these LP covers, and of course, the music contained within . I have always been fascinated by the processes by which artists create their particular art out of universal themes, world events, political movements, and how they get crystalized and filtered by specific cultures and societies.
when i still lived in Hungary. If you like it, let you know it was not the only music at the time...there was Illés, they were more poppy kinda beatlesque and later LGT, that was all over the place but much better musicianship, and then punk happened, and a a crapload of music was produced by all kinds of people. The 1970s were interesting times in Hungary.I think that was Omega's first record...the title says "Trumpeter Freddie and the terrible people". The Dude standing in the center is Gábor Presser, he quit the band in 1971, formed Locomotiv GT. Today he is the music director of the comedy Theater of Budapest.
Also surprised you did not get anything from Collegium Musicum :).
