The 12 and the 1600 Mk-II were both killer 'tables. What with the rumor of Panasonic reviving the Technics name, maybe we'll see both soon.

the nice thing would be if they brought back the SP-10 MK3...
that would be a good move.

If they did, what would you guess for a price dee? I'd say at least $15K, but probably more.

Only a Chinese knockoff would be. It did sell, so obviously it did not make much money at that price.
Time for something newer, sleeker, more modern?

interesting claims :). no specs for rumble? Interesting. Is the speed stability actually measured or just calculated? AFAIK there is no test record with that kind of accuracy. Very few records are centered within 0.1 mm and almost none at the level of, 0.03 mm or less. Moreover, spindle-hole looseness generates ambiguities that are often on the order of a tenth of a millimeter, varying with how you put the record on. Better than 0.1 mm centering is needed to meet nominal ± 0.1 percent wow threshold. (Precisely, at 75 mm groove radius, ±0.1 percent wow corresponds to .075 mm centering.) To measure ±0.01% wow and flutter you need a record that is centered within 0.0075 mm, and to measure ±0.002% you need one that is centered 0.0015 mm. OK you could say, move it out to 150 mm and the centering requirement is only half stringent ; you still need the record to be centered to within 0.003 mm. With that, you are within the resolution of fine machining, a bit over 1/10000th of an inch :). Doubt that you could get the test record on and off the spindle with that kind of tolerance without an arbor press and bearing pull.Still would be nice to hear how it sounds :)

Grand Prix Audio might answer these interesting questions of yours. Forward your post to their technical department. See what they have to say? They claim that speed accuracy measurements were done with the stylus down on a test record for "real world" measurements, and on the last page of their "white paper" download they also have this to say:
"Using conventional industry standard tests such NAB, DIN, IEC we cannot define the Rumble or Wow & Flutter of our turntable because the noise level and speed error of the record test groove is well in excess of the turntable itself."

I have a friend who has a Monico. He also has a Wave Kinetics. Now THAT is cool.
The Monoco is 20k, the Wave Kinetic is 45k.
I like my Lenco better.
Not kidding.
it's about the music
About that for the motor and another 5 or so for the plinth and arm.
But for 20K you would get a table that would compete with a few that fetch astronomical prices.

You base the price of the motor on the cost to obtain a handful from a US manufacturer?
a PSU, motor unit, plinth, and arm, all separate.Wnen i said 15K for the motor i meant 15K for the equivalent of the stuff included here
an there was the whole table that was called the SL 1000 MK3, i think that should be about 20K

Unless the Onkyo and Teak are being built in Japan with Japan mfg parts I wouldn't be holding my breath that these examples other than looking attractive are much better than the run of the mill Hanpin tables. Any table coming out of Japan isn't going to be cheap, I'm guessing something basic would be in the neighborhood of $2K.
1. We have much better motor controllers today then we had in 1985 :)
2. A TOTL table arm plinth in the 20K range can be made profitably if you have the industrial capabilities of Matsushita at your disposal.
3. Just using the cachet of the old name....Technics SP-10 MK xxxx would sell a quite few of those units.just for kicks.....
here is the inflated price of some of the legends...(vintage knob prices + inflation from 1984...thing takes no tabs, sorry :( )
model........................1980s price......today's price
Dennon DP-100M.......$7,142.86....... $17,571.43
JVC TT 801.................$2,023.81..........$4,978.57
Technics SP 10 MK 3..$5,070.00 .......$12,472.20
Kenwood L 07.............$3,571.43..........$8,785.71
Sony PS X9..................$3,015.87..........$7,419.05
Pioner Exclusive P3.....$4,206.35........$10,347.62
Yamaha GT 2000........$3,968.25..........$9,761.90dee
