4 layer birch-ply plinth wrapped with oak and oak armboard.
ESL 2000 tonearm with Stanton 500 cartridge with styli from
LP Gear for 33 and 78.
This was a fun project, although pretty labor intensive since
you're making it up as you go.

Nice! Vintage look, TD124 like. Is the VTA in the ballpark this way? New mat?
On the one hand i'd like to get rid of the mechanics of my 1019. OTOH that 8 inch arm may be better than it looks. It sounds good the way it is now.

VTA is adjustable because the collar from the old Pioneer PL-41 arm
has setscrews.
The mat is new because the original was gone when I got it on ebay.
Fine looking job. The oak wrap-around is a very nice finishing touch.
I should really do something similar with my basket case 1019. One feature I really like with this model is the removable spindle. I have enough off-center 78s that I'd love to go spindle-less when the need arises.
it may make an awful lot of sense. The real issue is setting off everything with zero or as close to runoff.. You may want to use the old machinist trick with a dial indicator and split the runoff at the max.
