Or did Pioneer buy up the Technics SL-1200 rights?

...no, but quite a few of the Hanpin-made SL12x0Mky clones do. ;)

Audio Technica. look exactly the same as the Hanpin Table.
Wow, no kidding you are right. The Hanpin "DJ-3560 High-torque Direct Drive Turntable" looks like a SL-1200 clone. I was just browsing their website. I have never heard of Hanpin until your post.
Greetings from Denver Colorado!
the wow and Flutter are not even close with .1% the SL1200MKII is .025%. I bet this is just a rebranded Audio Technica table. The Pioneer specs are similar to that table.
What's the deal with the Audio-Technica table looking so much like the Technics SL-1200? And now Pioneer.
I saw the Audio-Technica at a local dealer a few years ago and it was pretty inexpensive. I should have picked it up to see if it was heavy like the Technics.
No, have you not seen more than a couple pieces of Japanese gear over the years? But I agree, that Pioneer looks like an Audio-Technica which looks like a Technics.
Etc. Etc.
like
the micro seiki 1000
and the 5000
and the kenwood l07d
and some of the more exotic looking tables :)
True terror is to wake up one morning and discover that your high school class is running the country.

That's a virtual replica of a 1200. To my eyes, anyway.
The "new" Pioneer that LOOKS like a Technics SL-1200Mk2 was selected from the Hanpin Turntable Factory catalog and are mfg in either Taiwan or China. You could slap the Audio Technica label or anyone of another dozen almost exact turntables label on it. The almost exact outward appearance isn't by accident, they are all a cheap knockoff of the SL-1200Mk2 with less than stellar performance/parts/design and sold to low information audio buyers that think they are getting the real deal at a bargain price.
