So you have to decide if it is really 'worth' the cost.
True it will be a little better. And have the latest in arms. And a new and more expensive cartridge.
But IMO you should really be prepared for it to sound the same as your old table. With perhaps a few tiny positive suprises.Like buying a new car of the same model you had for 10 years.. It is really not a whole lot better... Just newer.
You could buy a new arm and cart, and stick them on your old TT?
The arm alone is about $1,200The same dealer doing a new TT and setting up the cart, could replace your old arm on your current TT and setup the new cart on it.

I have noticed the platter is a little wobbly as of late. I don't think the previous owner ever oiled the bearing. I didn't realize it needed lubrication and used it for 3 years before lubricating it. Turntable sounds fine but the wobbly platter bothers me. I don't feel like upgrading the turntable, as I would probably give it to my son along with a power amp and tube preamp.
Do you think the Classic 1 would be a better choice or should I just keep what I have?
"Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells."
Does VPI sell the alum platter and bearing as a upgrade for the Scout? I would check into that first....
