You probably sent it to the same guy I sent my Nott motor to for repair. What a piece of work that jackass is......

Hey Oz,
How long did it take for your motor to start giving you trouble?
And, care to share with us the person with whom we should not deal?

I know this thread is long in the tooth but I'd like to post a bit of helpful advice that could save money and anguish for Nottingham owners in the future.
I have been using a Spacedeck since about 2002 and recently I've been having sporadic issues with speed and start up. I was going to buy a replacement motor and opened the motor housing up to check the part number. When I looked at the spindle I saw a small amount of lint had accumulated around the spindle at the bushing. See the photos for details.
Long story short, I was able to slide the clump of lint off the spindle and there was an immediate improvement in the amount of force require to turn the motor. After cleaning the rest of the crap off, I added a drop of very light oil to both ends of the spindle and re-installed the motor. It now starts like new and maintains correct speed.
I believe that because the spindle is exposed, it catches dust and lint coming off the record during normal dry brushing.
Easy fix, 10 minutes of time and no extra costs.
Kyle.
Good save, kyle! Thanks for the info.
