Highway, and another side of, now Live Dead, probably going to play quite a few more before nightfall. Weird choices for me, I guess I want a little mellow. Great to be home listening to records, back in a real bed, with hot water and regular food.

Love the photo; must be how many Terra-Pixels?
I hike or ride in Pisgah Forest for two hours or so almost every day and would love to make a trip like yours, but I couldn't fit a big enough bottle of Vitamin I in my backpack.
Last summer I hiked part of the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail) through the Cascades. I listened to 'Workingman's Dead' on the car ride to the trail head. Grateful Dead is damn fine music before or after a backpacking trip.

It was my 50th birthday present to myself. Me and the wife went. There were all sorts of different folks out there, including many way over 60.
Anytime you're seriously thinking about it let me know.

Tell me exactly what a "JMT hike" is? I'm a long time hiker and backpacker. Cool photo. Looks like the sort of country I'd like to hike in.
Here's a photo of me and my canines on Polecat Bench about ten miles North of here.
Sorry Dave,
The John Muir Trail. Starts in Yosemite Valley and ends at the top of Mount Whitney. 209 miles, plus 13 more to get to the bottom. We started at Tuolumne Meadows and shaved 22 miles off the total (I've done that part of the trail before). It took 13 days, with a resupply on day 6.
Great fishing and camping and intense hiking over some amazing passes and mountains.
Beautiful country! I need to go out and do a few more of these 1-2 week backpack trips before I get much older.
