"A highlight for me was the Rolling Stones (home movies?) staying at a local Holiday Inn. They seemed a bit out of place."
I haven't seen the Muscle Shoals documentary yet, but this sounds similar to the footage from the movie "Gimme Shelter".
See ya. Dave

I was infering about Alabama as location for Rolling Stones home movies used in the muscle shoals documentary - context and all. Wouldn't be the first instance of loose poetic license in movie making.
As for the Stones "Gimme Shelter" - My father and our family lived in Monterey Calif. during the free concert at Altomont. My brother and I drove north to see the daylight half of the concert. I remember the huge crowd and I remember seeing leather jacketed "bikers" standing on the roof of a parked, yellow school bus (the bus roof had a good view of the stage). They were hurling, not tossing, full cans of beer into the crowd. Not nice.

Coincidently, I've lived in Monterey since 1974.
Small World, eh?
See ya. Dave
