I met a fellow audiophile recently who runs high end McIntosh. He just acquired a VPI Classic. Just adjusting things.
What are good tubed phono stage. I haven't looked recently.

......but with one caveat - stick to the MM version, the SUT in the MC version is sub par. If you intend to use a LOMC cartridge you should plan on using a good quality outboard SUT.

Bottlehead seduction is a very sweet sounding stage
I settled on a Hagerman Cornet II, great stage found for around 450.00 used
Bottlehead Eros to name a few. And for an entry level bargain, the Yaqin MS-23B.
