So how's it sound? That is a cool arm.
Just spun my firt discs after a long rehab. My ol' warhorse is a Denon DP-75 in a VPI base, Denon DA-401 arm and a NOS Denon DL-305 cart- fresh out-o-the-box. Initial reaction: great bass; great big, solid, stable image; needs a little break-in and fiddling with the load resistance to calm the highs. Had it set up professionally at Brooks Berdan's shop in Monrovia California. Shockingly low price for the work and a perfect setup- way better than I was getting myself and its not my first time at the fair, sonny! Thanks Brooks Berdan...

I like the looks of that tonearm.
One thing I don't understand is why a veteran vinyl enthusiast would ever let someone else setup their turntable. What did Brooks Berdan do that you couldn't do?
Just curious!
Best regards,
John Elison
See small things, and not have arthritis! LOL ;-)
To Mr. Bear, I remember that arm from when I sold audio. That is a very nice setup. IMO the week link for Denon was the plinth. You took care of that problem quite nicely.

Thanks to VPI! That base is from VPI when Sheila and Harry Weisfeld used to make them by hand mostly, on the kitchen table, so they say. It was their first phonograph- before the HW19- which is in a very similar base.
The subchassis is about 1" thick comprised of laminated layers of steel plate and what looks like ABS sheet. The sucker weighs around 60 lb. all together. The music emerges from a "black background," as the golden-ears say.
Sounds like the way to go with a DD Denon!
