Don't many/some Rega tt's have an issue with speed control, specifically, running too fast? It could be OK, even if so, as long as pitch is not noticeably affected and speed variation due to stylus drag is not pronounced.
Follow Ups:
I haven't been able to detect a speed issue with my current P9 or the P5 I had before this, but the comments about Rega turntables running a hair fast in the reviews are pretty consistent...consistent enough that I believe it. Miller Audio Research tested the RP6 and found a speed error of +0.27%.
Read a review of the RP8 by Fremer recently where he measured the speed with an iPhone app and noted that it was a hair fast.
I didn't notice anything amiss in my friend's RP40, and I listened to several records I'm very familiar with.
I read that review and noticed that too. So I went and looked at his reviews of other tables in this class and most of them ran a shade fast. Seems like it's not out of the ordinary.
My RP6 is O.K.. Pitch is not noticeably affected and speed variation due to sylus drag is not pronounced.
In fact, I hear none of these defects.
But thanks for bringing those issues up.

I was just recalling other threads on the Rega tt's at various times over the last several years. I've never owned a Rega myself, but some guys seemed upset about speed control. Thought it was worth mentioning to the OP.

Your emoticon makes it difficult for me to tell whether you are being facetious or not, but your tag line quotation from Sol Hurok suggests that you are. ;)
I should have used a smiley face.
Sorry for the confusion. Just trying to be friendly.
