wow. mine looks nothing like that. its perahps half as tall and has grey top not black. definitely does not have that switch.
mine might be an early model?

possibly rebranded project phono box? if so, should be internal jumpers. take cover off and look.

taking apart a component case in order to change operating modes? not my idea good design or even acceptable design.
i should have looked into this deeper before i bought the unit.
but if i list the unit for sale on AA Trader it will suddenly be a good and acceptable design of course. :)

Sounds like you do a lot of switching back and forth between MM and MC cartridges.

Seems like a reasonable assumption. Kind of a pain, but then again, how often does the average person change carts?
if it's a mm the average person probably just gets a new stylus. Us, around here? many many many many times. you will probably upgrade the phono stage before long if you are similar. if you are average it may be the last one you buy.
Oh i can absolutely be accused of rolling phono stages like they were tubes, but I have had the same Goldring 1012 for years. I guess I would be lumped in with the average guys. Although, for the last decade or so, I haven't been adding to the collection of phono stages either. Mostly due to the below average economy.
