Ah, gin, the summer HAS begun. :-)
I'm going to cue up some Jesse Winchester tonight in his honor. Didn't get to last night.
Regards,
Tom
Follow Ups:
This is my favorite. His version of "Bowling Green" is mighty fine and "Nothing But A Breeze" always puts a smile on my face.
Regards,
Tom
I don't play this record very often but when I do I am reminded of songs that I really enjoy...
"Defying Gravity" and Russell Smith's "Third Rate Rendezvous" for example.
I thought I might get bored listening to so much Jesse Winchester in one sitting. I was wrong. I'm actually enjoying listening to his music more and more as the night goes on.
Regards,
Tom
I consider this album a very close second to "Nothing But A Breeze". There are the memorable, standout songs "The Brand New Tennessee Waltz" and "Let The Rough Side Drag" but also songs like "Lay Down Your Burden" and "Step By Step" that are wonderful, thoughtful tunes that are somehow forgotten until you revisit them and are reminded once again how good they are. And then there's the catchy "Everybody Knows But Me"; great pop.
Thank you Jesse. Good night, and farewell.
Regards,
Tom
