There is an offer right now for a remastered set of the first five Clash albums for $85. I could do without London Calling and Combat Rock but just to have the other three, particularly Sadanista, IF they sound better, is worth it to me. Did a search here and found nothing. Did a search on Fremer's site and elsewhere and found nothing. Anyone know where they were pressed and more importantly, does anyone have them and have something to say about SQ? The ad I received says;
"• FIVE legendary Clash studio albums for ONE great price!
• All albums newly remastered by The Clash from original source tapes to audiophile quality
• 180-gram vinyl pressings
• All artwork recreated from original release including replicated fully printed inner sleeves
• Sandinista LP includes “Armagideon Times” poster insert
• Combat Rock LP includes exclusive Pennie Smith photo print"
Follow Ups:
hey there - i don't post much, but just wanted to mention i purchased all but ...rope separately and can't say enough good things:
s/t - uk version (have a us original)...great
rope (actually purchased drastic plastic) but have read the new remaster is similar. will replace my mediocre us original
london calling - had a great us original sample but its now been superceded
sandinista - had a pretty good original (a "demo" even), but is now replaced. . warning though, i have a bit of nonfill issue on side 4
combat rock - had a decent us original, but again, it's gone
ok - gush over
Thank you DPC!
Judging by the timing you are a Pop Market subscriber? I thought about this one too having just mised the Beatles Box/ I was interested in today's offer, The Smiths, but it was still pretty exxie
Is it the box set? Where is it offered for $85?
"Lost my shape - trying to act casual."
Sorry. I was not checking back after the first twelve hours (with no response). Yes, it was a PopMarket offer. It just shipped and I guess I can be the first to report on it. I am not overly optimistic, but nothing can sound worse than my original vinyl copy of London Calling. My original copy of Combat Rock sounds relatively good. Anyway, I will follow-up with a report.
Always a favourite album, but I won't forget the look on the face of an audio salesman when I used it to test a system
Sounds like a record store day clash collection to me.
