KAB sells a nice RCA jack plate which can be installed on the back of your turntable. Then you've got the option of using interconnects of your choice and swapping those out any time you wish.
For interconnects, standard "audio" cables from the local Radio Shack are suitable for line level applications but don't have the low capacitance required of phono applications. However, standard "video" cables are low capacitance. I'm using Radio Shack brand video cables on my Technics SL-1200 with excellent results.
Of course if you want to spend the big bucks, there's always "audiophile" phono interconnects available.
Follow Ups:
I believe the KAB RCA jack plate is also offered with a Cardas tonearm rewire for $169, and I believe that includes installation. I'm not sure what is included and how it's priced if bought for a DIY project.
I bought my SL1200 from KAB a few years ago "pre-modified" with the RCA jack plate and tonearm rewire, along with the fluid damper and strobe disabler.
From the KAB website:
Units With Rewired Tonearm Mod W/Connector Plates will require separate interconnect cables. (KAB reccomends ART Mogami Blues)
Cardas rewire improves harmonic overtone detail, vocal articulation and overall definition.
[Rewire process includes Cardas individual phono wires with KAB Quiet Wire™ coating, internal cotton batting and KAB Resonance end cap]
J. Tonearm Rewire $169.00. Cardas to KAB PC-1200 RCA Phono Plate[2 RCA Females plus ground post]
K. Tonearm Rewire $169.00. Cardas to KAB/Cardas 5 pin DIN Phono Plate[This Requires right angle DIN connector]
They also sell low cost interconnects made with MOGAMI cable.

The jackplate looks like a good idea. Don't know how different your table is from the KAB 1210 but once you remove the 49 screws holding the bottom on the chassis, a cover plate is exposed that the wires exit thru. Take that off and there's a circuit board with solder pads. I'd go direct to the board with a set of cables and eliminate the extra connectors but convenience is also good.
Whichever cables you choose go shielded. You can buy Cardas 4x24 from Michael Percy or Handmade Electronics for about 5 bucks a foot; lot's of others including Vampire and Vampire RCA jacks are excellent. I used the Cardas for my AT-1005 and no regrets.

Thanks Cactus ,your suggestion for the plate and cable quality sounds about what I am looking for, it's a nice TT in very good shape I want to improve a bit but nothing I want to sink a lot of $$ into.

I had one on my 1200 and once put one on a Luxman as well. It is well made and pretty inexpensive.
