Last week I was lucky enough to visit my Uncle in KC. As I was leaving he asked if I wanted some of their old records. I picked out a few form a box. I was just about to finish up and he said oh let me get you one from my private stash. He comes back with a very cool Louis Armstrong - live in Paris at the Palais 1965. Its in very good shape. So nice of my Uncle and its a fun spin.Somehow I now have a pretty good collection of Louis!
The first picture is the record my Uncle gave me and then the rest of my collection. Thanks for looking

Just noticed that the Al Hirt box set stole a picture of Louis. Its on the King Oliver lp, perhaps that one is stolen also!

Nice collection of Louis Armstrong!
I love his music and have a number of 78s, 45s, and LPs. Here's a selected few from my collection:
A 1940s 78 RPM reissue album of early "Hot 5" recordings. I also have a number of Armstrong 78s on Decca, Columbia, V-Disc, and RCA Victor labels.
This oversized Decca box set of two LPs is dated 1951. The long box accomodates a wooden dowel/hinge with two sleeves for the records and a sheet of program notes.
A reissue of V-Disc material on the Japanese DAN label.
Here's an original V-Disc from World War II.
"Plays W.C. Handy" is one of my favorites from the 1950s.
Thanks for the display! I have a Dave Brubeck record that has Louis singing - The Real Ambassador. Must be the reference.

Still looking for a clean copy of that one. I'll eventually find it.
and Hot Sevens - Satch Plays Fats - Ella with Satch - and on and on

The Jazz Giants collection has some Hot Five. I enjoy the booklet included, that has pictures from that period. Love that early Jazz.

I have the Hot 5 and Hot Sevens on both record and cd. From time to time I listen to them and to Ellington to retune my ears. Actually I listen to them fairly often and to Ellington almost daily.
I also like Louis and Duke. Talk about a really nice uncle!
Its interesting to guess where the record really came from... I do not think of my uncle as someone who plays records.
