Spinning the Slade LP right now and it's a smokin' hot live recording. The Herman's Hermits disc is a winner too. I know, I know, I know, zero 'cool factor' among you guys who's life obsession is finding the ultimate "hot stamper" of "Brothers In Arms" with the proper script in the deadwax.... but hey I don't care. I'm not interested in "reference" LPs to test out how my stereo sounds. It's all about the music and if it's well done trashy glam/hard rock or twisted bubblegum pop, I like it.
I'm probably the last guy who'd wax poetic about how good a Herman's Hermits LP is, but I've gotta say this is a good one. Love the cover art. Recognize any of these characters on the back cover? :-)

one of two Slade LPs I own and it's loud, raucous and loud. I have their first LP, "Ballzy" (Ambrose Slade) which is more in the psychedelic vein. On Ballzy they cover the Beatles, Steppenwolf, the Amboy Dukes and Zappa. But when I see fit to drown out the noise of the world it's Alive that's my weapon of choice.
