Just got an LP for my daughter "Grouplove" which is rising in popularity - tunes are catchy.
I got a download code with the album and compared the two to each other ... and found they sounded about the same (not in a good way).
The vinyl was about as thin as the stuff from the 1970's - and it wasn't particularly expensive for new vinyl - but I was chagrined that the compression of an mp3 can transfer to Vinyl just fine!
Also I have an album I truly enjoy - Alabama Shakes "Boys and Girls" - that sounds great on my system (though you can tell the mastering job isn't going to win awards it still sounds good enough that you can enjoy it and a step above CD) - but a friends it sounds collapsed veiled and compressed (he's got a SOTA Saphhire with Ortofon Vivo cart, Belles Phono Amp, Belles stack driving Maggie MG3's) that it is hard to listen to.

Har de har har!
Here is the name of the album. It *is* an unfortunate name.
Grammar'll kill you.

It comes with a download cooupon and the vinyl sounds like it was sourced from MP3s...for the most part. A waste of money for more than one reason.

We don't shush around here!
Life is analog...digital is just samples thereof
First listened to it at work on an old portable and thought it sounded OK.
At home it has a new version of bad sound. I have never heard anything that sounds bad quite like this.
It is a mess, which is a shame since I really like these folks.
It possesses an annoying sound that makes it impossible to sit through the whole thing. Usually I can find a way to enjoy music even when it sounds weird - this one challenges my ear/brain in a way I cannot decode.
The LP ripping software I use displays the peaks and valleys in the recording. Alabama Shakes looks like a solid bar. You can easily see the cutoff at the top end, too.
One of the most compressed recordings I've ever ripped.

No, I think the quote marks indicate that's her Internet "handle."
