I know it's weird stuff but it's just a phase I've been going through for the last 40 years. Follow Ups:
I also like music that's 'outside the box.'
I bought these three Residents LPs recently:

A 2012 reissue of one of the early LPs, from the '70s. Features Snakefinger on guitar.

From 1988, released on the Rykodisc label and pressed in clear vinyl.

A 2011 release. All three of these are great records!
is a strong outing. I've listened to that one quite a bit myself.
That reissue now has me curious.
Nice to know I'm not the only Residents fan here.
Coochie Brake is excellent. At times it reminds me of "Eskimo" with the weird otherworldly primitive vibe. One can almost imagine being drawn into the swamp listening to it. The singing in Spanish was unexpected. I'm going to burn a CD-R and send it to my niece's fiance, who speaks fluent Spanish and see what he thinks. I know he'll dig it, he's into weird music like Mars Volta, Pink Floyd, etc...
The reissue of "Fingerprince" is interesting. I was not familiar with this LP until I recently acquired it. According to the liner notes, it was their second LP chronologically, recorded in 1972 after "Meet The Residents" but before "The Third Reich And Roll." It has a transitional feel to it, with side one comprising short songs with the demented piano sound of their debut and side two being one long composition entitled "Six Things To A Cycle" which is more akin to Third Reich And Roll, Not Available, and later LPs.
Listening right now to the self-titled 1971 recording with Manuel Gotsching, Klaus Schultze and Hartmut Enbie. Also picked up Agitation Free - Malesch prog rock. Somebody in Kitsilano was dumping some pretty good stuff. Wish I had had more money, but I just picked up a vintage 22 inch Zildjian sizzle cymbal on the way.

you've got some good listening ahead of you. Good one finding an Ash Ra Tempel disc. Few and far between is my experience. I'm still looking to complete their discography on vinyl. It's a life long pursuit so patience is on order.

I know it's not vinyl, but I spotted a number of fairly recently remastered Ash Ra Tempel CDs on amazon.com while looking up reviews of mine.

Thanks for the tip. I not at all averse to disc, especially when the vinyl is so precious.

Don't worry, you're not the only one...

Cool!

35 years ago I would've said "Far Out Man!" seeing records like that. :-)
post, I say "Far Fffing Out! Cactus does it again!!!

Nothing weird about those purchases. It just reminded me that I have been taking my last few record store visits too seriously. Asking myself, "do I really need that record?"
Thanks for adding the videos, like you always do.
