Stopped at my local Goodwill today before work and found an excellent donation of 50 early rock lps, most in VG+ to mint minus. Bought them all for a bit over 13.00. The collection almost certainly was from one owner as the same name was written on some of the labels. Most copies were in primo condition. My thought is that the owner was one of those collectors that would make a tape copy of each lp then only play the tapes. The records would remain on the shelf, never to be played.
Some of the most interesting to me are: Atomic Rooster-Made in England(Elektra EKS 75039). I have heard of this group but am not familiar with their music.
White Witch-Self titled(Capricorn REcords). Never heard of this band but looks interesting. We'll see..
Lucifer's Friend(Billingseate BG 1002). Quadraphonic copy. Very interesting cover.
Cat Stevens-Teaser and The Firecat(AM SP 4313). Pristine copy. I will be comparing it to my remastered copy from Analog Productions Quality Pressings.
Allman Brothers At Fillmore EastCapricorn SD 20802) Pristine copy.
Steppenwolf(Dunhill DS 50029) Mint minus copy
Chicago II w/original poster.(Columbia KGP 24). Very nice set.
Vanilla Fudge-Near the Beginning(Atco SD 33 278). Nice VG++
Dan Fogelberg- The Innocent Age. For some reason I have never come across a copy of the title before. Pristine copy of this 2 record set.
Temptations-Puzzle People(Gordy GS 949)
Blues Brothers OST/ Another record I never seem to come across
Spooky Tooth- You broke my heart so I busted your jaw. Pristine copy
Mountain-Flowers Of Evil(Windfall 5501)
The Who-Who's Next. Pristine copy.
Best of Cream(Atco SD 33-291
ZZ Top-Fandango(London PS656)
Black Sabbath-Paranoid(WB 1887)
Follow Ups:
i wish my Goodwill was selling lps for 26 cents each. That would of been a 100 dollar haul at my store.
I have that buried in the cleaning stacks upstairs somewhere, bought it at a thrift in Vermont a couple Summers ago.
That's a really nice haul for such a small amount. The Mott & Cat Stevens alone (I actually really like that CS record and i'm not a huge fan).
Lots of good records you got there.. and I really like Atomic Rooster too. About as fun as an Acid, Boogie-Psych Rock band gets IMO.
Have fun cleaning! :-P
Looks like a great score - keep an eye out for Atomic Rooster's Death Walks Behind You
I ran across a copy of this (not quad) and bought it solely based on the cover (which is pretty weird)
Heavy stuff and not too bad.
Excellent score for a Goodwill!
Both White Witch and Atomic Rooster's "Made In England" might be described as Psych/Hard Rock. The Atomic Rooster LP is very good, the White Witch is weaker. A Quad Luficer's Friend, WOW! That's a nice find.
Given the condition of all of those records, you did very well.
