The LCR is still my favorite. Totally different soundstage. This is not in the league of the LCR but if you never had an LCR then this circuit is really good. I think it is a better choice if you never use an SUT with cartridges down to 1MV output.

I am intrigued by your experience, never having heard an LCR EQ circuit. How is the soundstage different with the LCR stage? Can you summarise any other differences that you hear?
Alex
I have built both the 6SL7 and a Thorsten Loesch and although I do like them both I think the one Steven D has is more open and big. Could also have soemthing to do with the tube choice(6SL7).
In general the same thing was experienced by myself and others, that the sound stage is much larger and more open at the top. Bass is a small bit comprimised but I am a mid range person anyway. Don't get me wrong, the bass is very dramatic as compared to a standard passive RIAA but it isn't that deep. It seems just right!
Thanks for your observations. I use a homebrew VSE RTP3 and have no plans to build anything else imminently, but I have always had an interest in LCR EQ networks, as they are radically different from the usual active or passive RC networks.
Alex
