I recently got my Miyajima Premium BE mono cart after I heard it perform so well with Lp12 and TW Raven deck. But I am wrestling with Humm the past 2 days with this mono cart connected to my Steelhead II phonostage (fixed output). I used standard stereo connection from Miyajima 4pins to Steelhead MC input. What am I doing wrong?
For comparison my Transfiguration Phoenix is dead quiet on my TW Raven with TW10.5 arm and Steelhead. Any advise is appreciated. TIA

you either use a 'splitter' with one side to both inputs, or, a 'sum'er' where both inputs are 'summed' into one side of your phono stage and then the mono switch on your preamp will give you signal to both channels.
i've owned the Miyajima Premium Be Mono for a couple of years and initially i did not have the ground loop and then i did have it. and i have no idea what changed. all i know is that it is likely the best performing piece of audio gear for the money i have ever heard.

As experiment I tried disconnecting one channel from my Phonostage and NO Humm was detected.
As you mentioned, I will try to connect a Y connector from ONE output of my tonearm then to my Phono - Lastly should I just float the other RCA output of my tonearm?
when you disconnected one side and the hum went away, you did essentially the same thing i was suggesting which was to eliminate the ground loop. you just did it in a different way. you figured it out your own self.
if you have a 'mono' switch on your preamp that will complete the job. if not get a splitter and connect the one side to it and then the 2 leads to each input....and you are done.
enjoy your Miyajima!!!

Yup, the instructions are at best cryptic, at worst confusing. I took a few minutes to diagram out the correct connections on a 3x5 card before I got it right. BTW, it's a great cartridge.

Let me see if i understand this correctly. The colored pins of miyajima should be connected to the correct color leads of my arm? This is how i did it and yet i got humm.
The instruction leaflet that came with my Miyajima Spirit mono is the same for the whole range. The translation is poor and I found the diagram of cartridge and headshell explaining connection confusing,so much so it took two attempts to get it right and avoid hum.Miyajima do not follow the same link up as conventional cartridges.
