When I fell on my fanny on the garage floor on Nov 7th,I ended up getting a compression fracture of the tailbone. They just did the cat scan four days ago and the nurse PC at my GP's office wanted to send me to a neurologist.Luckily one rented from me and had her office in my building and she told me there is nothing a neurologist can do and those fractures heal on their own with time.I get a sharp pain in my right lower back right backside when I lean forward for any length of time or when I first get out of bed for couple minutes.Luckily I'm off from school for XMAS break and that's helping. It is definitely a lot better than it was three weeks ago so that's a good sign.
You guys are like my other family so I don't mind sharing this as c few others here have had similar issues at one time or another but I've been keeping weight off the tail by sitting on this inner tube while I work.
I hope it heals more as time passes.

hope you have a speedy recovery!
Sitting on a wheel barrow inter tube can help a lot.
Great news that it will heal itself, but it still is a pain in the ... well, you know!

Fanny is an unusual name for a Cat. I hope you and the cat are alright in time.
Me to Tod.I always thought humans didn't need a tail but if I had one,I might of landed on the SOB and I would be fine.LOL

...and long enough, they could serve as tripods to keep us balanced.
Too bad we can't say the same thing for the front appendage!
Speak for yourself ;-)

Years ago, I was working on a distribution amplifier in the attic of a mall, fell backwards through a suspended ceiling, hit a desk and then the floor. Tailbone was one of the my injuries. It takes time, but did heal. I wish you a speedy recovery. Everyone is different, but I found that walking helped with the discomfort.
That makes me feel as I know it should heal.

Good luck, with the heal!
Hang in there.
Thanks Steve. I hope I get a Christmas miracle.

It feels like R-390 landed on it from six shelves up. LOL

Yikes. Figured something was up.
It does take lots of time.
I was kicked hard in the tailbone as a kid-and I swear
It took years to heal. Parents never took it seriously enough
To X-ray and finally were advised-
Can't really do anything anyway.
Sorry.
And- I can't predict weather at all.
Would've been nice side effect I guess.
Mike,I know people who have had the same break you have - it does heal but it takes time. And they all tell me it has a useful purpose - after the break heals they say they can tell when a change in the weather is imminent from their "weather center" in their tail!
I wish you the best - and me too. I have been fighting severe back pain from spinal stenosis and I just had a 2nd cortisone shot into my spine last Friday. I feel somewhat better but I still cant sleep all night as the pain builds when I lay down and wakes me up.
Someday we'll have to see if we can get a group buy together at the spinal/pain specialist's offices!
Merry Christmas to you and yours my friend!!

Well I can join that club. Bulging discs and spinal stenosis in my neck.
I went through physical therapy, fascia and epederal shots. F
Didn't help with nerve pain, so they wanted to fuse it and put a titanium plate in.
I can't afford it, but they also said it would change the pain, but not eliminate it. My ex had her back fused and she has a number of limitations like lifting a max of 10 lbs. I have no limitations other than pain related.
It took about 6 months to find a pain clinic that understands tolerances. I know live on a steady diet of pain pills, but it has improved my quality of life.
Jeff,
My best wishes to you and your wife for a pain free future - and a Merry Christmas!
Thank you for sharing your experiences.
Thanks Jim
That means a lot. I hope you get better as well. I also have nights where it wakes me up and I just flip on my other side and it helps.I didn't know I would half a lifetime weather predictor in my tail end.I hope it isn't permanent.Things are definitely than the first week or two.
Merry Christmas to you and Marge and the boys.

As Jim said, it will heal but it will take a while. DO NOT aggravate it. If it hurts - don't do that. Buy yourself a nice tubed warmed doughnut pad to sit on. My advice is to play with smaller stereos. No more Mac's for you young man!
Jim, the pain spasm cycle causes the majority of your spinal pain. PM I may have a suggestion - no I'm not selling you anything!
My wife has had back pain/stenosis for many years (3 operations). We would be interested in any suggestions if you wish to PM me!

I can't PM you as your account is set up for no email. But feel free to drop me a note if you like - I won't be mad or offended!
Thanks for thinking of me!
Don't say that.
Mike has my macs!!
I can lift as long as i don't overdo it.
