On the slant tube version (slanted 12AX7s) that I rebuilt earlier this year I mounted the terminal strip to one of the transformer bolts. No drilling required. I also have a couple of the vertical tube versions, like the one pictured, but I haven't gotten around to working on them yet so I don't know if that method would work on them or not.

On the slant version you can because you have more room.I just didn't want caps up against the power trafo.

Yeah there does seem to be a bit more room in the slant tube version. Here's a pic of mine. I wouldn't want to put them right up against the PT either.

Did you put a 35uf film cap after the rectifier?.That's where the film caps goes in place of that old filter cap that we now put on a terminal strip.

Yeah, but I used the Panasonic because it's about 1/3 of the price of the round ones. I mounted it topside next to the JJ. Here's a pic.
I see K40y-9 on the power tube grids. You cannot beat that capacitor for great sonics. Believe it or not, becoming rare in some values.
