Was in East Tennessee over the holidays and checked CL to find a pair of JBL L36's for sale. I offered $80.00 and the seller accepted. No grills, but quickly got them off the Bay for $35.00. A little Howards Restore A Finish and they look great.
They sound exceptional. Just very fun to listen to and everything seems to sound great, from Ryan Adams to Pink Floyd to the Soul of John Black. Punchy, clear and solid sounding.

This JBL project is now complete with new JBL correct grill cloth and badges. Turned out very nice. These sound great with a Bedini BA801 amp and GAS Thoebe preamp. The JBL sound is just fun!
Nice!

Nice! Were the woofers reconed? Damn surround have a 6-10 year half-life. Then, they crumpled.
I've had Orange County Speakers redo all of my latest JBL speakers. Unfortunately, they don't do vintage JBL anymore. One of their techs now does it, on the side.
Haven't tried him yet. I have four 136A woofers and two D120F instrument speakers needing it badly.
Well I highly suggest two shops here in greater Tampa Bay. Simply Speakers in St Petersburg and Speaker Exchange in Tampa. Both are excellent.
.
No, they had a slight imperfection but nothing serious, they responded and sounded fine. The surrounds are in overall great shape.
