I picked up a Kenwood Super Eleven receiver via CL.
Circa 80-81. 125wpc. 2 phono inputs, ability to connect processors. LED power indicators, LED FM readout. 6 slider eq tone control. Provisions for up to 3 speaker prs. Seems to be around the time that Japanese receivers transitioned from from metal and wood to plastic.
Cleaned out accumulated dust, checked fuses etc and then applied power.
No sound. Other functions seem to work; FM is in alignment, and holds stations.
I can hear a very faint hum when I put my ear to a speaker. Hum disappears when I switch off speakers. I verified that everything was connected to source, and the tape monitor and dubbing circuits were not switched in.
Any ideas what to look for ? Hope it is something simple.
Thanks,
Ross

If you don't have the manual here it is!
I had one of these a number of years ago. as I recall, if the timer dial isn't set correctly, the unit won't play. Note-If you are going to manipulate the timer, be warned that they are fragile. Don't force it.

Seems to be an overseas version of the KR1000 / KR1100GX
A disconnected preamp out/amp in feature? Let's have a pic of the back panel.

Front ADAPTOR switch turned off?
Yea...too many options
You can see from rear shots --- [exciting, isn't it?].... 8^)
--- that the ADAPTOR jacks look like PRE-OUT/AMP-IN RCA's. Could be that switch shorts out this option? Like jumpers?
Just a Sunday WAG...
The adaptor switch needs to be off (sticking out). Can't tell from the picture if it is off (out), press it in and out a few times, in case the contacts are dirty. Same thing with the monitor switch. It is in the correct position, but you could switch it back and forth, in case contacts are dirty. Same with selector switch.
Hifi engine has both a user manual and a service manual. You need to be a member, but it is free.
he could just use jumpers between the input and output?
Yes, that is a very good idea.
