Anyone recall the model number of the Yamaha passive pre that went with their pyramid-shaped power amp?
It was a gorgeous thing, and probably no more than a handful survive, since probably only two handfuls were produced.
Any links, pix, etc. appreciated.

I'd love to see it.
I sold Yamaha from 1978 to 1992 and never heard of a passive pre-amp from them.

I don't think Yamaha had a passive preamp then. That amp was being manufactured from 1980-1983. CD players first came out in 1982 and there were not enough early adopters to make a passive pre a marketable commodity. Besides, if you want a passive preamps, they are one of the easiest things to DIY.

I don't think you can have tone controls without gain.

Thanks, but the one I'm talking about was much more compact, sort of bronzy, and I think had cone feet. As I said, it was a companion piece to a pyramid-shaped amp Yamaha produced. Or it might have been a prototype.
if it's not one of these,it may have been a one off production.

May be. At least I was able to find a pic of the B-60 online, so it wasn't a figment of my imagination. Thanks for the i.d.
