I don't know if you got to listen to or not but if you clean up and paint the transformers,you may be able to sell the unit and get a more suitable rebuild candidate because like Jim said,you have a lot of work ahead of you if you want to make this a McShane super amp.That bracket for 250 I don't trust because we have no idea how old those caps are and if they were hooked up backwards and even if they weren't,the shelf life comes into question.If someone has a bracket you can get or you can make one,then you would be better off. Jim can hook you up with the wire harness and you can source turret boards pretty easily.You do have the problem of the larger holes for the 6SL7s but that can be solved.

Ahhh...
I haven't even plugged this amp in yet. Just out looking, researching and going to take my time, but the Im not going to throw gobs of cash on this thing. I'm no soldering maestro, but I come from a tech background with experience with soldering and electronics, so I'll save on labor there.
Yes Mr Samra, I've considered using this amp as a step and using the proceeds to get a better one. My friend who can make the bracket, asked questions, he said send him the dims for the top chassis too.The front is in pretty decent condition.
I have a feeling this wasn't the first mod installed. I'll take better pics, with better lighting, camera, etc and show the work one the inside.
I'm very curious too as what this things sounds like as is. Just not gonna hook up my 19's straight away! Lol! I do have some shop speakers I can plug in, but my gut feeling tells me not to do that yet. I fear some issue to make an opt fail, and I don't want to shell out for those!
I need to down load the manual, and research and sell some stuff that's been sitting around too long unused and tackle this bit by bit...
I plan on having some more pics up, a gentleman email me and said he will take measurements, but someone dimed you out and said you had a factory deuce in. If you have a minute, you wouldn't mind taking a few measurements of that bracket please? If would really appreciate it!
I'll take some pics and post them later.....
Thanks!
Its 12 and 3/4 long and 2 and 3/4 deep but what I'm going to do is pull off the bracket and draw a template and mail it to you..I will pull the cans off and trace the bracket onto some paper;

Also the holes for mounting the caps are 1.375" diameter except the one for the old bias cap which is at the opposite end of the bracket from Mike's picture. But I'd make it the same size as the others since modern clamp mount caps caps fit well with those size holes.
Thanks for the diameter measurements Jim!
Mike said he'll send me a drawing of the bracket, I think that and the measurements should be good for my friend.....
Thanks again all!

Make sure the bracket is thick enough, and also make sure you look carefully at the picture I posted for where the clamps mounting holes go along with the other holes in the bracket. The same goes for the bracket-to-chassis mounting holes.

I think it's like 10ga,right?

Thanks Mike!
If you have Altec 19s,they are a lot of like ESLs and Magnepans in the sense that they love wide bandwidth amps with low distortion so they can strut their stuff.
