(http://www.avahifi.com/images/avahifi/root/audio_basics/ab_pdf/ab1984.pdf) This is the 1984 mod that Frank Van AlStine did to the ARXA in 1984. I did 2 of them and it's real easy. When you get to the tonearm I have a new way to put a new vert. bearing in the brass tonearm post which Frank does not discuss and also that great tutorial on the AR rebuild by John Weathers, first thing up on Google.
I just got my camera figured out, 2 days off and I'll have something valuable to add.
Awe-d-o-file, your top plate looks great.I just did mine without the plate removed and put Frog tape to the test. It worked great. Also got a dust cover in the works were it can be lowered while a record is playing. Look at the bright sun beaming thru the window and it's dust city. Why clean a record if it's just going to get dirty in the playback?
If the address is too long to type go to Google/Audio by VanAlStine/Audio Basics Newsletter 1984. Keep showing your progress, I'm lovin it......Mark Korda

$78 sounds like a bargain today, but back in the mid sixties that was a weeks take home pay for a lot of people. My first forty hour job in a rolling mill in 1968 brought me home about $90.
