Hi Mikey,
I think you might have meant "Joe's" 4 tube 6922 board?
With regard to the VTA circuit, you indicated that it is lively sounding. Do you find its liveliness varies depending on which power tube is used? I ask this because, in my observation, some EL34 tubes have just always sounded "slow" to me across different amps. For instance, I've listened to EL34s in Prima Luna, original Dynaco, and Octave Audio amps, and they all had what I have come to think of as EL34 softness and slowness. I have noted that a number of folks over in the tubes4hifi forum have gone to other power tubes, like the 6L6, KT66, and whatnot...
Thanks.
Peter

try the Shaguangs. A very nice el34 tube. Lively it IS. If you can put KT66 in your amp do try the gold lions. I'm running them in my vta and they sound wonderful.

I have used the Valve Art branded EL 34B on several amps. Very nice tubes and dirt cheap.
Chinese tubes - yes. I have been thinking of looking through the archives in the Tubes forum to see what kind of information is there. I may post there to pick up on this - thanks for mentioning it!

Power and driver tubes affect it..Right now I run 12au7 tele in voltage amp and 12BH7 Raytheon black plates in the phase splitter driver along with 6L6gc black plate RCAa or the 6P3Se or the 6L6g tubes I have in right now.
