Last summer I acquired a very nice Kenwood KA 5700 at a garage sale for $20. The amp was recapped by the previous owner and is in fantastic condition. The amp sounds completely different from every review I've read on it. Instead of being warm and musical it is bright, cold, and clinical sounding. It almost sounds odd, something sounds off like the amp is out of phase.
Any idea as to what make be causing the issues with this amp?

I might be wary of the reviews also-

Maybe the bias needs resetting, I'd check that first, and possible
that the re-capper put a cap in backwards or wrong value.
I had a 5700 back when they were new. The Kenwood amps from that era were not warm sounding. Marantz was, not kenwood. If you are looking for a less etched sound, add some film bypass caps to the main filter caps, that will help.
