The yellow Astron coupling caps? I'll see how the are, once I ramp up the new 'lytics.
Follow Ups:
Running around B+ = 357VDC. About 17VDC above schematic nominal.
Try it out now.

On those Astron caps,if you have anymore than .2v dc leakage,I would change them to .022 k40s.
A friend you get for nothing,an enemy has to be bought
Ok, will check them. Think that the "12AX7" in the amp maybe a 12AT7. Kinda weak tone. Replaced it with an RCA 7025. Put slow-start 5Y3WGT rectifier and TS 6V6GT (USA made). Much better tone. Smoother. Nice OD. OEM speaker has terrible high volume response. Think the VC and/or cone is all dried up. Too fragile, even for 5 watts.
Get back to you later tonight on those DC voltages off the coupling caps.
That wooden cradle which is holding the chassis is really cool, gotta get me one of those. I didn't have a lot of hope for that speaker.
Does the "slow start" rectifier have less voltage drop than a usual 5Y3 ?
AFAIK, same voltage drop (around 50-60VDC). I am using Hytron made 6087 (5Y3WGT).
Stuff like this is almost enough to make me want to learn to play guitar! I wish that companies like Webber and "Jensen" would make a "hifi" speaker based on 1950s technology, I would buy it in a heart beat...
A few months ago, I bought a Yamaha Strat copy in a thrift store and have been looking for an amp, so I have been following this with interest. It turns out that several new Chanp amp kits are available and Jensen makes both alnico and mud magnet speakers for it. I have an idea that I could but a small soiled state amp, used, and retro fit the tweed amp to the cabinet. At least for guitars, 50's technology is here. For hifi, there is always Great Plains Audio.Dave

Prolly install it, volt spec the coupling caps, and try the amp out later this week. After four night shifts. Ugh.

Take some photos if you get a chance, I would like to see the little Webber.
Very cool, and prices are a lot better than the Jensen alnico 6".
