I remember the PX-3. It was TOTL. I currently own a Revox that won't drop the cartridge onto the record. I will look to see if there is an easy fix. I have the service manual. However, with a tables this old, It will probably need all the electrolytic capacitors replaced. They are getting pretty old. Your table is of a similar vintage (80's). It is not that bad a job if you can solder.

my thirty year old Souther TQ-1 - it's entirely mechanical! The races do require periodic cleaning, but there's little to break. :)
It makes quite the visual statement too!
