I had that Yamaha. And I also had the BIG Onkyo at the same time. Both were nice, big, heavy. They sounded OK - nothing exciting but OK.
I'm a tube guy, But I do wish I had one biggins for looking at.

I have the big Onkyo. I forget the model number, but I have tested it and it works. It just needs cleaning of the switches and pots. Of course for a serous restoration, I should replace the electrolytic caps, but that is a big job!

CJSPU, Trio-Kenwood made some of the best tuners in the biz. Tuner section of Kenwood KR-5150, an early 70s TOTL offering, had top-notch sensitivity-n-selectivity. ... Smaller amps-n-receivers can sound sweeter, but you get a more solid soundscape from larger amps-n-receivers by utilizin' their reserve power through efficient speakers. 73s para Sactown
I have a KT-8005, but it is rough and going to take some work and money to get it running. However the quality of my B&K (Fanfare) tuner has made me lazy.
