The A-25 kit will take you an hour to build. Basically you screw glue the foam panels in, screw in the drivers and parts and you're good. That hour will be well worth it in the long run.
The drivers are better than the original. The woofer is the same design but using far better materials. The tweeter change, a soft spot on the original, makes a world of difference in clarity and sound quality.
If you're going to go for the A-10 with a 6.5" woofer. then why not make a significant jump up in quality to the SR-10 kit. Again an hour of building time. the SR-71 is turning out to be like the A-25 legend - a classic.
I've had the A-10. Nice little speaker for it's day. If one fell into your lap for free then that's fine. But it's day was a LONG time ago. Not one of Dynaco's better speakers. Trust me - I've had them.

I can't seem to find any info on the SR-10 kit you mention, could you provide a link?
The actual kit is at Madisound.com
They can order the cabinets as well.
Thanks, I'll be checking out that possibility.
That SEAS Excel tweeter cost over $200 each separately, and looks like the SOTA of current soft dome design. There is a lot to like about soft dome for wide-range tweeter use and SEAS knows what they are doing in that regard. I would really like to hear this speaker! It looks quite impressive. There is something about a good 10" system.

I agree. The A-10 was Dynacos way of filling that size range, but it wasn't as successful as the A-25. The A-25 became a classic, the A-10 didn't, for a reason.
There's a reason why people are still discussing the A-25 almost FIFTY years after it was first introduced. Verses the A-10 (and to a lesser extent the A-35) that has slipped into vintage obscurity.
Stick with the classics. And the Zaph Audio SR-71 is destine to be one of the Seas/dynaco-like classics.
