So the party that I got the Dynaco components from also have a Fisher Tube Console (that was my original interest). Unfortunately at the moment it is buried behind piles of stuff in the basement so I don't know what model it is. I have voiced my interest in the Fisher amps. Would it be wrong to pull the amps and dump the wooden console, or is there significant merit/value in keeping the whole unit intact given that it is a Fisher. Gutted a old Magnavox console once just for the little EL84 amp.

Not to echo the 'it depends on a lot' sentiment- but...
some questions to consider-
Does the party want rid of 'the whole thing'? - if yes, take it and do with it what you want.
Do you want the old furniture? - then keep it-
Some of the case work on those old units was impeccable - but not very valuable today, others were thin veneers over thin plywood - and not built to last...
If it is a Brazilay cabinet - it should be worth keeping - if that is your style....

I bought one on ebay, which was a family heirloom, so before bidding I e-mailed the seller and explained I was only after the amplifer. It turned out he was fine with it, pulled and shipped the amp and took the console to the dump. It turned out, the amplfier has a midrange that with my speakers etc., sounds better to me than some much more expensive amplifiers.
One caution, the amplifier chassis contained the power supply that also powered the tuner and preamplifier. It worked and sounded pretty good, but for it to operate optimally I had to change some resistor values in the power supply. Fisher made a number of different consoles, some with complete Fisher receivers, you just need to determine which one this is:

I think the amplifier I have was from one of the Futura's.
Depends on a lot. When you can see it post pics and model.

When I get there I will have to make a decision on the spot. Ignorance is not always bliss.
Well then visit the Fisher consoles website and arrive armed with data. There are some very cool ones.
