Les
The ADS speakers are very popular among audiophiles especially those that use vacuum tubes. They are a very stable speaker, impedance wise and I own two pairs of 810s and a pair 620s and a pair of the smaller 2 way monitors.
What you can expect going from the smaller 570s to the 780s is a more full bodied sound with that nice detail and tonal balance that ADS is famous for.The 780 and the 810 and 880 series are plentiful and easy to find drivers for so any of those 3 I mentioned should trick your fancy.

Thanks Michael. I am running them with a tube integrated, and that made a big upgrade in sound to the solid state amp I had been using with them.
Coincidentally, a friend of mine, who owns a very good system, just came over, and I played a sax cd on the ADS speakers. He said that is was the most realistic sax he had ever heard on an audio system.
That made my day, for sure.
ADS being an East coast speaker has a taken a lot of cues from AR if I had to make a analysis...Even the dome midrange and tweeters that the AR3 and the 810 uses has a uniqueness to its sound like onto their self.

I believe that the importer took over the company, but I could be mistaken. There's only so many ways to make dome mids and tweeters, but I'm pretty sure Braun/ADS designed their drivers from the ground up.
was the original importer and later licensed production of the Braun units here in the mid 70s.Trivia answer for the day. Info link

That is correct and that's why the ADS used mostly all Braun drivers. We take it for granted about the dome mids and tweeters today but AR really is the one of the real pioneers of that dome type. AAMOF, Jim McShane's uncle Chuck was the one that designed the eyeball dispersion on the midrange driver of theirs.
