Any particular Mahler in mind? I grew up with the Bernstein/NYP recording of the 2nd. Got me hooked.
Follow Ups:
Bernstein was all the rage when I was growing up in the 60's and 70's, at least when I became aware of him, and IMO for good reason. His Mahler interpretations are some of his best work. You won't go wrong with Bernstein.
But I am a fickle listener and there are others to consider. Lately I have been enjoying Bruno Walter. However, I am always drawn to Fritz Reiner's 4th on the beautiful sounding RCA Living Stereo. He is one of my favorite conductors.

George Cates & Lawrence Welk! I also liked Arthur Fiedler ,a lot as well!
I still enjoying listening to them & have over a 100 LP's of the Welk Band!Along with all those bubbles I am able to keep them records as well as my listening room nice & sparkling Clean too!
I am a big Arthur Fiedler fan and have many of his records. There are times that I just want to be entertained.

That's why I like the 3 Conductors I chose! Because there styles of arranging music is very entertaining to me!Also almost an Welk LP on Coral,Brunswick or Dot are recorded extremely well too!
Hi Brian,
I have to admit that I completely dismissed Lawrence Welk without giving him a try. I see his recordings every time I go to a thrift store. If I can find a clean copy, I will give him a try.

I have a number of recordings, including a couple of chamber versions. However, the version at the link is the one that got me hooked on the 4th. Perhaps not well known, but a nice performance nonetheless.
I never heard of it. Was it released in the USA?
Dave
I purchased it in the US though I don't recall where. Budget disk. Nice performance with unusual choice for soprano solo.
