Thanks Airtime!Have you any experience with Infinity Speakers?
They always looked interesting to me and had to try pair when the chance arose!I paid $40.00 for the pair of RS 325,but they were in almost like new condition!Plus I can return them in the next 10 days for a complete refund if I don't like them! I mostly listen to Big Band & the Rat Pack,Tony Bennett, etc.Besides lacking in lower bass, compared to the Advents I had hooked up they sound more balanced and less colorized to my ears!Again Thanks to you and others here for allowing me be a member all these years!

No seriously, the only experience I have with Infinity speakers is a friend had them when I was a kid. At the time Zepplin and Steely Dan seemed to sound good on them????
But for vocals I agree that you do need a more neutral balanced natural sounding speaker. Anything to heavy in one octave is really going to throw a vocal track off. And one with a good tweeter. I think this model does have a better than average one so you're in luck. It sounds like you don't need a "slamming" bottom end with that type of music. But something in at least the 45Hz range would be fine.
Enjoy

Well Airtime, what bookshelf speakers do you think I should try next in that system?I have some Lancer 44's but I have a feeling they will want something not quite so modern like my Yamaha CR 620 or older?Anyway for now, this will do just fine?Anyone else wanna chime in?
I owned Lancer 77's for quite a while before I gave them to my brother=in-law, who still owns and loves them. They work fine with a tube or transistor amp and are very efficient and easy to drive. The Yamaha should work fine with the 44's.I sold Infinity in the 80's. If you like the Polycell tweeter, you will love infinities with the EMIT. The EMIT walks all over the Polycell. Just pick the model that is the right size for you. They have everything from small bookshelf to floor-standers. Of course the Bigger the speaker the better the base. The higher models with EMIM, sound the best, but the small bookshelf speakers do sound good.

Thank's crazy Dave! Will be looking into more speakers made by Infinity as they do seem to mate well with the Yamaha!
If you're into DIYing something consider this. I'm using a pair of Zaph Audio SR-71's. One HECK of a good speaker. You can find the kit at madisound.
I use mine with a subwoofer. I know us vintage guys recoil from such talk. But a good monitor/sub setup really, and I mean REALLY is hard to match.
I use this setup with both a Sherwood S-5000 tube amp and a Dynaco VTA ST-70. And now I wouldn't give them up for any speaker.
I also use a Monitor Audio RX-2. It uses a 8" woofer and really does go down to 45Hz as advertised. Unlike most speakers that "claim" to do that. However, I did have to rework the crossover a little to make them sound good.
But for your type of music I would stick with a very natural sounding speaker, ie a paper cone woofer. Like the SR-71. Or if you have the room consider Madisounds A-25 kit. Also a winner.

Going to give my Lancer 44 a try as Crazy Dave suggested! Can't really go much bigger as it is a rather tiny bedroom & I have a Queen size Sleep Number bed, that is not going anywhere! I could not sleep without it due to a very bad back!I know when I tried them on my Superscope A 225 Amp it sounded, not bad ,but they did want more power!Again thank's for all the advice!
