I see a lot of posts where people find great vintage stuff at Goodwill, etc. It always makes me envious to see such good finds, because here in central California, all I ever find is junk. Well, occasionally I luck out, too. A year or so ago a friend of my father in law gave me her late husbands hifi stuff. A Mitsubishi DA-A15 power amp (150W/Ch.) and a DA-C20 preamp/tuner. I had to replace the main filter caps on the amp, and I did a general recap job on the board. Works very well. I haven't gone through the preamp/tuner yet, but its on my to do list. A couple of weeks ago, I was in the garage working on a set of loudspeakers, when my old neighbor across the street came over. They are in the process of moving, and he was doing one of his moving runs. He ask me if I had any e-waste that I needed to get rid of, as he was hauling some old stereo stuff to drop off. That perked up my ears, and I ask him what he was dumping. He said when he brings it out, I could look at it and see if I wanted it. I ended up snagging a Toshiba SC-665 power amp (beautiful, with analog meters), a matching SY-665 preamp, ST-665 tuner as well as a nice Samsung DVD player, and a Sony 5 disk CD player. All work great. They all look new, too. I don't think they were used much. Just wanted to share, sometimes even a blind pig finds an acorn every now and then!

sweet scores. I'm glad that you saved them from destruction.
My first foray into High-End Audio was buying a set of the Mitsubishi stuff- DA-A10 (@ 75 WPC) with the DA-M10 Meter module and the DA-P20 Pre-Amplifier - The original owner was upgrading to Pereaux equipment - and I got lucky- I had at the time a TD-160 and Nak BX-300 tape deck. I still have the Mits amp & Pre- Pre is being used daily - but the TT went and the Nak BX-300 died...
I still like the Mits stuff - great finds
The Mitsubishi tuner from that era is supposed to be quite good - I did not manage to get that unit though...
Happy Listening
I don't know the Toshiba stuff, but we sold Mitsubishi when I worked for Myer-Emco. It is nice stuff and quite good looking too.

You gottss some nice audio stuff!
I've had one or two toshiba pieces over the years. Model numbers??? I always like them being they had a Luxman like sound. They were good solid sounding pieces.
Please post your review and enjoy.

I wasnt familiar with Toshiba gear. Like the Mitsubishi stuff, it was never a major player. It does seem well made, however. I have not had time to listen to them yet, but I did put them on the bench to check them out. The amp is rated at 65W/Ch, but I measured about 79W RMS (8 ohms) just shy of clipping. The amp is fairly heavy, and used a toroidal transformer, not real common for early 80's consumer gear. The 665 series was their top of the line I gather from what I could dig up in the internet. The amp is DC coupled, with nary a single cap in the signal path (unless you switch in an input cap). The preamp looks good, with the typical smooth Japanese consumer feel to the controls. They use all Toshiba semiconductors (no surprise), with an odd SIP opamp for the tone controls and first stage of the output, but uses discrete transistors for the final output. The data sheet for the opamp is rather spartan, but both the preamp and power amp have over 350kHz bandwidth. I will provide more info as I go. Does anyone by any chance have schematics for the two pieces? I cant find much on the net.
