Years ago, my dad had a gas lawnmower with the tab broken off to short the sparkplug so the engine would stop. I watched my had use the blade of a shovel as a substitute for the broken tab. He neglected to tell me not to touch the metal parts of the shovel when I shorted the plug. Don't know how may volts I got, but it was enough!

You or the speaker?

The first Harley I ever owned was into the dealer's for service. I was riding it out of the dealer's, down a narrow city side street, with cars parked on both sides of the street.
I happened to notice the rear spark plug wire was loose, and without thinking, reached down to push it back onto the plug. It should have been insulated (maybe it was cracked, I dunno) but it lit me up like Jack Nicholson getting shock treatments in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.
I'm still surprised I didn't dump it or crash into one of the many parked cars. As Alpha Al said, it was about 20,000 volts coming out of the coil. That'll get your attention, but quick.
Whew!

That is DC pulsing at the RPM rate, upwards of 20,000V. It's low current, but yes, It hurts!
