Has anyone ever heard a pair of these Advents from 1973? From what little I was able to find these are the rarest of the Advents! What are your opinions on them compared to other Advent Bookshelf speakers! These have been properly recapped & the Woofers were Re foamed too!The pictures are from the Internet of the same model of Advents I have my eyes on locally! The only difference is the Vinyl Veneer is lighter & the Cabinets are in better shape!

The way those tweeters are angled, it looks like they my have been really designed for horizontal placement on a bookshelf. I would give that a try.

I have not tried them yet! The guy locally that has them is being nice & holding them for me until I am ready! With going through all the stuff I got from the guy who gave me all his old stereo equipment, along with hooking up the Yamaha CD 1000 CD Player I won on Goodwill's Auction site,I would not have quality time to sit down & listen to them! But again thanks for all your help & advice!
Back when I was overly influenced by other peoples opinions about gear...having said that, they were quickly supplanted by Dynaco A25's in my collection.. I would like to hear them again and see how those crazy tweeters sound!

There's a pretty good review of the Advent line over at AK
Unfortunately, these aren't too highly rated.
I owned a pair of the white plastic versions (with the silver metal grill) back in the mid '70's. I really liked them. Brighter than my "normal" Advents (both the larger and the smaller versions), but not harsh. Didn't go as deep as the others, but went deep enough for my purposes.
The biggest issue with them in my book was they weren't serviceable. Getting the grill off undamaged was an ordeal, and once you did, the woofer was mounted behind the front panel, so forget refoaming it. The injection molded cabinets were innovative at the time - I sold mine many years ago, and I imagine by now they've yellowed. But the ones Brian has here are in utility cabinets, so none of those caveats apply. If I had the opportunity, I'd buy them to add them to my Advent collection :-)
at the Internet photos of the Advent 2 W speakers, you can see that there is no plastic as the cabinets are I believe MDF
board with a vinyl wood grain covering over the cabinets. Also there is a metal bracket mounted to the front of the cabinets where the 2 cone Tweeters are mounted on as well! The grill is made of wood too,and has the traditional Advent Grill covers of that era!The Paper on the back of the speakers read 1973! I mostly will be playing
Jazz & Big Band Music,along with Tony Bennett,Rat,Pack etc.in a small Bedroom set up using a Yamaha RX 500 U Receiver,with a MCS/Technics 6601.
Yup, I saw that, and in my post I said "But the ones Brian has here are in utility cabinets, so none of those caveats apply." I wish the ones I'd bought were in the cabinets you have - I would have kept them. Enjoy!
Well the guy is gonna let me audition them before I decide if I am going to buy them!He is asking $75.00 for the pair, because that is what he spent to have them recapped & Re-foamed! I am hopping my Yamaha RX 500 U Will work well with them as it is 50 watts RMS per channel!
