I'm running both Sylvanias 12AX7's and Sovtek 12AX7-LPS in the phono V1 and V2.
☆☆☆☆☆☆I NO LONGER USE ONE 12AU7 AND ONE 12AX7 IN THE PHONO ☆☆☆☆☆☆
Let's just say that I shouldn't drink and tube roll - not my smartest move eh' Mikey?
Note: Most Telefunkens have had their lettering worn off and it's easy to confuse them when sober, let alone "tuned up". Who would have thought that 45 volts instead of the normal 140+ would lower the output volume?
For V3, V4, V5 (linestage) I'm using smooth plate Telefunkens for that upper midrange good stuff I have yet to find with the other tubes I have tried.
Recently Mike and I have been discussing plans for my "big boy" stereo. I have a nice Audio Research SP3-A1 that I'm going to have Mike do his thing with to include a remote control volume. I am currently looking for a pair of amps to pair with the SP3. I'm leaning toward either McIntosh MC-60's, Heathkit W6's, or ???????? Whatever it is, it must have a separate power supply, so monos make the most sense. I also want a all film power supply and monos typically have the space required.
