I also got about 5 or 6 pairs of speakers today from the same guy!Sadly most of them are Lower end Technics etc.I think there was set of Advent's though?Anyway when I look more closely at them if there is something I think worth mentioning,I will. There were no Amps,Pre Amps or Receivers as he had given those away several Months ago to one of the Local Thrift Stores.I did though get 4 Reel to Reel Recorders!3 of them were Akai's the other was a Sony. There also was 3 Cassette decks, and 1 8 track recorder, along with about 1000 pre recorded cassettes of all kinds of music! Also there was 4 big boxes full of Reel to Reel Tapes! So I will be busy the next several days looking through all this stuff!Probably will not keep most of it.He was glad to see most of it gone though! I promised to go back and get the rest tomorrow!

When I was a kid I would have KILLED to have a reel to reel. Remember the days where WNEW played live rock concerts. Lordy I wish I had those on tape now!!!!!
I think every Friday or Saturday night they aired a previously recorded live show if one wasn't available.
Ah the days when rock musicians were really talented. No pyrotechnics stage show and 10,000 kids looking down texting - just mucic
And the Dr Demento was fun as well.

Me too! Now I have 3, but they need some attention.

purchased a Sony TC-850 with 10.5" NAB reels. Looked cool, but added absolutely nothing to the sound quality of the system given the lack of prerecorded content.
Sold it and purchased better components. Now if you've got Mike Lavigne's budget, then maybe that would be cool. :)
I remember DR. Demento well!Listened to him on 2 different radio stations that carried his show! I have one of those portable Grundig Radio's
that you(Crank) wind up & it plays for 15 -30 mins. I think of that show
every time I use that radio,as he use to say & don't forget to wind your radio! The Reel to Reels have been sitting for 20 years in the Rafters of his Storage shed, but were in fully working order! I am hopping to get one of them running in order to play some of my prerecorded Tapes! Will post some pictures,of them when I can.
