Great speakers that you should be able to find for half what your budget is.

Since when are W90's worth a grand? I am not scoffing. I own a pair of W90's. I just didn't think they were worth much. I got mine free, but had to put a lot of work refinishing them. They were pretty rough when I got them. Since they had oil caps, mechanically, all I did was clean the contacts. All the drivers were intact, but one woofer was wired out of phase. The person who gave them to me though they had a blown woofer. I was going to pirate what drivers I could until I saw I could get them working again.
Don't get me wrong. They sound great! I just thought they did not get much recognition this side of the pond.

Things have changed. I suppose if you look hard enough in certain parts of the country(or you get lucky) you can get them for less. But a good pair of W90's ain't cheap anymore, although I still think they still offer excellent value.
Well that is good news for me!

Love W series Wharfe's. The 90's would be too big for my room, but I have 1st run 60's and will shortly have a very early pair of 70's. Great, fun speakers that work well with tubes or solid state.
I have a pair of W60's too, but they have one alnico woofer and one ferrite woofer. They sound fine by I suspect that would lower their resale value. I have never heard W70's but it is a very intriguing design. I hope to hear them some day. Actually, the ones I own are the only Warfedale speakers that I have ever seen or heard.
There was a time when I could get vintage gear so cheap that I would buy stuff just to heard it. I have bought gear that I knew was broken just to peak inside.
