My guess the Yamaha amp will sound the best. I have a friend with AR3s and they are underpowered with his Dynaco ST70. I didn't think it sounded very nice. Dull, muddy.
If you do want to get into tubes someday, the Mark IIIs would be one option. I think with new driver boards (I use Curcio) they should sound great.
I'd probably stick with the Yamaha and enjoy the music.

Looking forward to pitting the M-4 against the Adcom GFA 5400, and the dark horse Crown XLS1000.
Doubt tubes for the 3 will be happening anytime soon. But since I have 5 pairs of speakers besides the 3's all great with tubes, I'm not too worried about it.
The M4 is IMO a very good sounding amp.
